FTEC – Saturday [September 20]

Ino was pretty sure that this was going to be a bad day if radio had been anything to go by about how many people had been in and out of the clinic last night.

As such, she didn’t even take out her study materials, but rather busied herself with making sure everything was stocked up and keeping a watchful eye on the door. Ready to help if it was needed.

...she really hoped it wouldn't be needed. Better wasted effort than a lot of patients.

"I'm fine," she assured him, though she looked a little worse for wear and was completely lying. Still, she was glad to see him, and glad she didn't need a comlink to call him these days.

Right, fine other than her obvious injuries. He drug a chair over so he could hover more effectively. "What happened?"

"I got ambushed on the other island. I took more hits than I would have liked." To say the least.

His hands clenched as he asked softly, "Who ambushed you?" Lots of anger there, yes. Hopefully sense would win out.

"You're not going after him," Jaina said softly. She was sort of used to that reaction by now, yes.

It pained him that he knew he couldn't. At least not yet. "Right, because I'm staying here with you."

She was good with that, yes. It took her a moment, and she didn't want to say it at all. She even lowered her voice when she did so it wasn't like announcing it to the whole rest of the clinic. "It was a dark version of Jacen."

John blinked. If there was something John thought Jaina didn't need it was more family trauma. "Holy crap," he muttered, reaching out for her hand, not registering that it might hurt her.

Her arm was a little sore, but the gesture didn't hurt enough to register in comparison to everything else. "Pretty much," she said quietly, not sure she trusted herself to say anything else.

After that, he wasn't expecting her to say much else. "You need anything?"

Jaina shook her head, more worried that she was going to just start crying if she tried to speak, which she really didn't want. What she wanted was to let herself get clingy at him, but as she couldn't right now, she just squeezed his hand instead.

Really, that was kind of how everything seemed to her sometimes.

He didn't need the Force to know she was hurting more than physically. And, if holding her hand was all he could do for her, John was intent on doing it to the best of his ability, surrounding her hand in both of his.
