FTEC – Saturday [September 20]

Ino was pretty sure that this was going to be a bad day if radio had been anything to go by about how many people had been in and out of the clinic last night.

As such, she didn’t even take out her study materials, but rather busied herself with making sure everything was stocked up and keeping a watchful eye on the door. Ready to help if it was needed.

...she really hoped it wouldn't be needed. Better wasted effort than a lot of patients.

He followed her, clutching his arm against his side. "I think my shoulder took the worst of it."

Wow. He managed a sentence. That was something else to be proud of.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, then shuddered as pain passed through him again.

"I'll sit."

"Better your shoulder than ..." She was not finishing that thought. She cleared her throat as she straightened up again, letting go of Romeo's arm. "I guess your shoulder means you don't get a nifty cast. What are we gonna sign, anyway?"

"One of you," Ino said crisply, more occupied with setting out the bandages she was going to need--one look at the blood and she doubted she'd be able to heal it fully, "gets to sign all those nice white forms that the nurses have for checking him in properly. And then both of you get to leave."

Her voice brooked no argument. See her in all her tiny tyrannical glory. "You can come back later, but neither of you are staying here at the moment. Let's get that shirt off of you, Romeo."

"C'mon," Rikku said, reaching for Dojima's arm in case the other girl needed the support. She could use some, herself. "I'll let you do the nifty forms, you'll know way more of that good stuff than I do. I can hop down to the Perk, snag us some drinks while we wait."

Plus she had a phone call to make.

Once the blonds had left, Romeo began the slow, awkward business of unbuttoning his shirt one-handed. "I never thought I would hear an order to undress from you, Ino," he teased, but very weakly.

"It's the only one you're getting too," she said, watching him carefully, "no offense, or anything. I'll help get that off your shoulder." No way was he doing that himself, the buttons she'd let him get away with.

"None taken," he said, with a sharp intake of breath as he let her help him pull the shirt free.

"Shot," he agreed. "I have a guest on the other island. He doesn't like me much." Which was probably obvious from the huge wound being uncovered.

"Awful taste, that's what your guest has," Ino said, balling the shirt up and tossing it behind her. Ino was not the most professional medic around, no. She'd get the shirt later and trash it.

Her eyes, she kept on the wound. No way was she going to be able to heal all of it even if she used up all of her chakra. "But, really, what were you thinking?"

As her hands started to glow a soft green, and she brought them up to his shoulder. "It won't hurt," Ino told him.

"It's an old fight," Romeo said, and almost shrugged before he realized how very much that would hurt. "I was hoping to talk my way out and not bring it to anyone else, I suppose. Of course, he was dead the last I knew -- a point he seemed to disagree about."

He eyed the green light suspiciously. "What will it do?"

"I've told you I was studying medicine, right?" Ino said, moving to place her hands over his shoulder. "It heals."

And she focused her chakra on him.

It felt warm, and, somehow, Romeo's shoulder was starting to feel a little less like the center of all the pain in the world. His breathing calmed and some color returned to his skin.

"Don't you think that's odd, though," he persisted, "that a dead man should come back to seek revenge, and not know why?"

Most of her attention was on the injury, honestly, but she gave his question her best effort.

"Not if he had other reasons for revenge?" Ino hazarded a guess. "If he'd died, then well, I guess that'd be pretty traumatic to come back from, so no wonder he couldn't remember it..."

Yeah, Ino. Death would be traumatic. Just a bit.

"He should be in Hell," Romeo said quietly, then closed his eyes and let Ino work. He wasn't a fan of the sight of blood, least of all his own.

"How bad is it?" he wanted to know.

[OOC: Lots of flesh damage on his front and back, fracture to the shoulder socket itself.]

"You're going to hurt a bit for a while," she said, grumpy but at herself this time. "Your shoulder socket's fractured, and I can't heal bone yet. The good news is that the flesh damage, I can fix entirely. So, you'll live and just have to be careful while the shoulder heals the old fashioned way."

Mostly.

She could ease the pain of it, at least.

He started to pout, then reconsidered. Tybalt was still out there, somewhere. Better to stay in a safe place.

She'd have gotten him water anyway, really. Shhh.

"Terribly," she agreed.

A few minutes later, she pulled her hands away from his shoulder. "Just have to clean you up, and get you in a sling," she said pleased with her work, if not with him.
