Natalie held open the door and allowed Molly to enter, carrying Buffy. "Just put her on the bed, please," she said.

Moving quickly, Natalie grabbed a pair of gloves and immediately set to action. She made to check Buffy's pulse, already having made a mental note of the pace, and then dug into her pocket for one of the infamous pen lights. "What happened?"

It seemed like she asked that a lot around here.

Finding Buffy's retinal reflexes a bit slow but acceptable, Natalie turned her attention to the young woman's throat. There were barely visible signs of bruising, likely still healing under Alanna's efforts. Had the bruises remained, Natalie could have learned a lot from the markings. Since they were all but gone, there wasn't much left for her to go on.

"Well, the oxygen deprivation may have done some damage." She pursed her lips. "Do you have any idea how long it was between the time you heard the struggle, and you found her there?"

She continued working even as she spoke.

"Okay," Natalie said, grimacing. She had checked both arms and found no broken bones, but stopped abruptly as she applied gentle pressure to the left shin. "That's going to hurt. Maybe it's a good thing she's out cold for the moment."

She called the duty nurse in, along with a portable x-ray machine. The nurse handwavily did her job, then disappeared out the door. She had the films on the terminal in a matter of minutes; the diagnosis was confirmed in black and white.

The blood work would begin soon, as would setting the bone and casting it.

Natalie looked to Alec, Molly, and Alanna. "If you don't mind stepping out for just a few minutes, I really need to tend to her."

The doctor emerged some time later, after applying a cast and setting Buffy up with an IV. She stuffed her hands into her pockets and gave a taut smile. "You can go in now. Let me know if you need anything."

With that, she moved off to restart her DVDs and try to relax.
