Clinic [1/26]

Susan opened the clinic, checked on a still-sleeping Vala, then went back to the front-desk. She only had one appointment today, but better to be ready than elsewhere.

Ivanova hesitated at the door, knocking lightly. "Um, Dr. Pevensie?"

Ivanova shakes her hand firmly before following her back into her office. Her tingly feeling wasn't going away. And she was beginning to feel like it wasn't a headache.

Ivanova chooses a chair, as straight-backed as she could find, but hesitates over the note-taking. "No one will see them?" PsiCorp has no authority here, Ivanova, she reminded herself firmly. They cannot order her to show them or lift the information from her mind. "I guess that's alright."

Ivanova takes the questionnaire and looks down at it while she answered. "Answering questions is better than trying to find questions to ask," she replied. "I . . . well, I suppose you ask me your questions before we get into my immense aversion to most counseling where I come from."

Ivanova sighed and began writing as neatly as she could.

1. I was feeling rather friendless and as though the entire universe were playing some sort of horrible joke at my expense.

She briefly considers circling the 'changes in sexual interests' option but resisted.

2. No.

3. Self-defense classes, extra-curricular sparring, jogging. As to alcohol, I'm Russian - what do you think? No drugs.

She hesitates before filling in the next question.

4. My father died just over a year ago. I also lost a very dear friend. Temporaly displaced. And a new roommate who's a PsiCorp telepath.

She hesitated even longer answering the next one. She had never put this on paper or on record in any way at all.

5. My mother was a telepath on sleepers. So all of the above.

5. (again?) I spent a semester avoiding my past. Now it's getting rather irate at me for it.

6. No.

Ivanova sighed and leaned back the little her chair and posture would allow. "I went home for Christmas, to great people who had truly missed her. Then I came back here and I didn't have anything familiar. Except my roommate, but I'd give her back. I didn't really know anyone outside of classes or . . . that embarrasing incident with the Wonder Woman Fabulous Female costume. And then there was Lyta. That was the horrible joke bit."

Re: Counselor's Office - Susan Ivanova

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Ivanova ran a hand through her hair. "Okay. This is a little difficult for me, but I'll try to explain. Where I come from, telepaths and telekinetics - teeps and teeks - are regulated by the PsiCorp. All teeps have to be part of the PsiCorp, or they are thrown in jail, or they are given drugs to suppress their abilities." She swallowed, hard. "The sleepers . . . they supress everything else, too. My roommate is 'the Corp is mother, the Corp is father', raised from birth PsiCorp. My mother was discovered to be a telepath on her 35th birthday. She didn't want to leave us, so she went on the sleepers." Ivanova's face has lost all expression by this point. "She committed suicide not long after."

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
"I was ten. It was almost twenty years ago." Ivanova said shortly. "Old memories. And I could almost forgive Lyta her alliances but . . ." she fiddles with her hands. "Why can't I say this? There is no PsiCorp here. I still can't help but feel like Bester is going to swoop out of the sky if I tell anyone."

Re: Counselor's Office - Susan Ivanova

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Ivanova blinked and rolled her eyes up as she remembered. "29 going on 18. And the PsiCorp is pervasive in ways you can't imagine. They lift thoughts right out of your head. I can never let my guard down as soon as I see those black gloves and silver badges."

Re: Counselor's Office - Susan Ivanova

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I already requested a new roommate. My paperwork apparently got lost. Which is probably the punchline of the joke." Ivanova glanced away. "Lyta and I knew each other . . . before. And we almost got along, because she didn't know about . . . well, didn't know. But since I came to Fandom it's getting stronger and today is . . ." She dropped her head into her hands. "My head is tingling and something is going to happen and I'm scared she's going to find out."

Re: Counselor's Office - Susan Ivanova

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ivanova keeps her gaze down on her hands as she speaks. "I inherited my mother's gift. Or curse. I'm only a low-level telepath. I can't read minds with any kind of accuracy. In fact, I've only ever had direct contact with my mother's mind." She pauses. "It's still enough to have me put on the sleepers or thrown in jail. And Fandom is making it worse."

Re: Counselor's Office - Susan Ivanova

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Ivanova nodded. "It's nothing too noticeable. But my . . . gut feelings are getting stronger. I'm afraid that she'll notice. We live in the same room. Eventually I'm going to be asleep or stressed or . . ." she thought of Tonks ". . . being very distracted and she'll get in."

Re: Counselor's Office - Susan Ivanova

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't want her to know. I didn't even want Talia to know." She looks rather wistful. "I know, it sounds odd and like some sort of mind-reading soap opera, but I used to be . . . involved with a telepath. She never knew. If we go home, I don't want to be thrown in jail. Even if Lyta knows and even if she doesn't tell, a PsiCop might get lucky during her debrief." She smiled a bit. "No one cares about this in Fandom. It seems so . . . trivial in the face of magic."

Re: Counselor's Office - Susan Ivanova

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Ivanova straightens up. "Why not? Just in case all goes according to plan." She smiled. "I don't even think I'd want to be completely un-teeped. It's like my mother's gift to me. Something special."

Re: Counselor's Office - Susan Ivanova

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ivanova peered at the book and nodded slowly. "That sounds like it would make sense and perfectly fits in with our plot. I can try it, anyways. Thanks for wanting to spending so much time on me."

"Could you make it Wednesday? I work at Wonka's all day Thursdays. Tonks let me nip out today for this appointment." Ivanova let a happy smile flit across her face as she remembered the offer Tonks had made her that morning.

"That would be great." Ivanova stepped past her. "No, no questions. Just . . . thanks, Dr. Pevensie."

"I will." She winced. "And please - could you just call me Ivanova?"

Finding sometime in his *cough* busy schedule Autolycus dropped by the clinic. "Hey, kid, you up for a vistor?"

Re: Come Visit Vala...

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, Teach!" Vala smiled, pulling herself up a bit on the pillows. "Sure! It's kinda boring around here really. Mostly I've just been sleeping."

Re: Come Visit Vala...

[identity profile] autolycus-kot.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I heard about the attack on that radio thing," Autolycus frowned. "You doing okay?"

Re: Come Visit Vala...

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
"A whole bunch of stitches in my side and...," she grmaces and waves the cast in his direction. "but they say I'll be fine. Might even get to go home tonight."

Re: Come Visit Vala...

[identity profile] autolycus-kot.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
"That's good to hear. Oh, before I forget," Autolycus pulled out a brightly wrapped parcel (http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=27). "Brought you a little 'Get Well Soon' pressent"

Re: Come Visit Vala...

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, that's sweet!" she says smiling. The smile just gets bigger when she gets it unwrapped. "Oh, they're beautiful! Thank you so much!"

Re: Come Visit Vala...

[identity profile] autolycus-kot.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I figured you might find them handy," Autoycus said and winked. "Especially if you end up needing to escape from this place."

Re: Come Visit Vala...

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
She laughed. "Actually, I think my boyfriend's got that covered. But you never know...," she grinned. "I'm sure they'll come in handy some day.

"Oh, you know I'm not suppsed to go to class at all this week, right?"

Re: Come Visit Vala...

[identity profile] autolycus-kot.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't worry, vampire attack falls under the acceptable absence criteria, and I've still got Jaye to help keep things in order," Autolycus said, then frowned. "How long did they say you had to stay out of classes, again?"

Re: Come Visit Vala...

[identity profile] aka-vala.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"At least through the end of the week. Or that's what the note says."

FYI -- Early Evening

Cam stops by and manages to get Vala discharged on condition she stay still for a while, take it easy, and not go pulling any stitches out. He bundles her up against the OMGWTFSnow? and takes her back to the dorms (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/428074.html?thread=18369834#t18369834).
