He'd had a comfortable dinner with Wilson, then retired to the small apartment with Cash. Cash had taken a while to settle down, preferring to run around the apartment and pester House to throw his ball for him. The pair had finally collapsed in the bed, sometime after midnight.

House swung open the clinic doors just after 8 am. He was showered and shaved and breakfasted. Cash had eaten and romped out in the courtyard. It was a rare morning for House, and the clinic was the last place he wanted to be, but there he was. At the desk, sucking on a red lolly while Cash played with the ball at his feet.

Dr is in. Coffee is brewing, Johnny Cash is singing to the waiting room. Come on in. He is still taking blood samples, if anyone is willing to give

After his chat with House, Aziraphale stops at the door to Susan's office and knocks softly. He doesn't want to bother her if she seems busy, but he is interested in meeting the new counselor -- especially as the town seems to lose counselors at an alarming rate.

"Yes?" Susan looks up, distracted, then smiles. "Hello. Can I help you? I'm the new counselor."

"Yes, my dear. That's what Greg told me. I'm Aziraphale -- I run the bookshop in town. I just wanted to stop in and say hello, and welcome you."

He smiles and approaches her desk. "I do hope I'm not bothering you."

"Not at all, please, have a seat," Susan turned around in her rolling office chair, and indicated the armchair behind her. "I'm Susan, by the way. Pevensie. I've just barely got the office the way I like it now. No patients yet, so I have time to spend in catching up on the Island." She smiled. "Are you friends with Dr. House, then?"

"Yes, I am. And Dr. Wilson as well -- he mentioned that he'd met you."

He takes a seat in the chair she indicates. "How are you liking our town so far? And don't be afraid to tell the truth, my dear. I'm well aware of how odd this place can be."

"I've actually only seen a very little of it-- the town square, my apartment building, and the school. It's lovely, what little I'm familiar with. Of course, the inhabitants have thrown me somewhat for a loop." She smiled, then rolled her eyes. "They left *several* things off the invitation to work here."

Chuckling, Aziraphale nods. "I expect they did. Shall I take that to mean you've met some of our more unusual residents? A few of them surprised me a bit at first, but I've found that everyone here really is very kind."

"Faithful, and Kiki. I think she may have mentioned you?" Susan smiled. "Dr. Wilson did mention you had a bookstore. And yes, they've all been most welcoming, really." She sighed. "When did you get used to it?"

Re: School Counselor

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-01-17 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah...well. I suppose it didn't really take me very much time, but then I've a bit of an advantage on people."

He smiles again. "I don't believe I know Faithful, but Kiki works for me, yes. Have you met her cat, Jiji, as well? They're both very good friends. Kiki is really a joy to have around -- you'll adore her once you get to know her, I'm certain."

"Does Jiji talk? Faithful was quite articulate." Susan's mouth quirked. "And Kiki was very sweet to me, she helped me find the school, and I'm afraid I didn't even believe she was flying at the time. It took several hours for me to accept the reality of my senses once I arrived here."

She sighed. "I think I'm handling this well, at least... magic. That's--comprehensible. But then they piled robots and aliens on top of that, and it's a bit much for my first day, don't you think?"

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-01-17 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yes, Jiji does speak, but I don't expect you'll be able to understand him. And Kiki isn't the only one who flies here -- I believe her friend Harry does also."

Aziraphale gives Susan a sympathetic nod. "That is quite a lot to handle all at once. If it makes you feel any better -- the aliens don't appear to be very different from all the other mortals. And I haven't yet seen any robots myself. I should warn you that there are a couple of vampires about, but they seem to perfectly nice. To be quite honest, Greg is likely to be one of the more intimidating people you'll meet here."

"Since we seem to have achieved detente with an air-clearing bit of straightforward explanations, I'll take that as a good sign." Susan smiled, heartened. "I have heard about one of the vampires, but not any others. I shall have to look out for any more flying students, though. I'd hate to be presented a miracle and miss it."

Raising his eyebrow a bit at Susan's phrasing, Aziraphale chuckles. "I expect, my dear, that a youngster on a broom is going to be one of the lesser oddities you see while you're here. But if you need any explanations, I'll be more than happy to see what I can do. And I do hope that you'll stop in for a spot of tea with me sometime."

"I would like that, very much." Susan smiled, pleased to have another person to visit, a potential friend, even. "Phale's Books, isn't it? I think you shall see me there before the end of the week."

"Well, there isn't really a sign on the shop, but that is what most people call it. It's the only bookshop in town, though -- just next to the park. You can see the duck pond from it," he adds, as though that's an important feature in bookshops.

"And I look forward to your visit, Miss Pevensie. Is there a particular kind of tea you prefer?"

"Oolong, if you please," she smiled, and held the door for him. "Have a good week!"

"Thank you, my dear. And to you as well."

Aziraphale gives Susan a warm smile as he picks up the little bag of medicine House had given him and heads out the door.
