He'd had a comfortable dinner with Wilson, then retired to the small apartment with Cash. Cash had taken a while to settle down, preferring to run around the apartment and pester House to throw his ball for him. The pair had finally collapsed in the bed, sometime after midnight.
House swung open the clinic doors just after 8 am. He was showered and shaved and breakfasted. Cash had eaten and romped out in the courtyard. It was a rare morning for House, and the clinic was the last place he wanted to be, but there he was. At the desk, sucking on a red lolly while Cash played with the ball at his feet.
Dr is in. Coffee is brewing, Johnny Cash is singing to the waiting room. Come on in. He is still taking blood samples, if anyone is willing to give

"Are you settling in all right? I assume Dr Wilson gave you the grand tour."

He blinked up at her. "Jonathan's files are in the filing cabinent in the back office." He pointed, his office had a small records room at the far end. "You should have a key to the office and the cabinent. Second drawer, alphabetical, and coded in yellow folders.
"There was also a counselor in town, a Dr Chenowith. She's no longer practicing, but left her number for refernce, if you should need it." House dug in the desk drawer and produced a business card.
[OOC: Chenowith is no longer approved in game, and therefore this is just to establish that Susan can access her files, if necessary]

"Mr Crane was a unique individual. His position was purely voluntary, as it was purely voluntary for students to seek his assistance." What else could he say about Jonathan? He hadn't felt entirely comfortable around the young man, and knew Wilson had deliberately kept his distance insofar as possible.

"So, you met Faithful. He's interesting." House nodded. "Did you meet Alanna too? Faithful doesn't come around the clinic so much, now that I have Cash."
Re: School Counselor
Since we're talking later in another thread.Dr. Wilson said something about Faithful being a... familiar? Or companion? I assume this Alanna practices magic, then." She cocked her head. "And Dr. Wilson already admitted he doesn't think much of my profession. I hope you don't share his distaste, but I shan't be bothered if you do."Re: School Counselor

He glanced at his cane. "Dr Wilson, or the administration may have told you, I use a cane. I went to a clinic several years ago with intense leg pain. I was sent home to rest a strained muscle. Four days later, I was dead on the table. I had an infarction in my thigh. Obviously I lived, and I went through surgery to save my leg. I'm missing a chunk of muscle, nerves, and tissue. I've been addicted to pain killers, though I am now trying a more new age sort of approach with a healer in town. Point is, after the debridement, I was very angry and uncooperative. They had me on suicide watch for a while, put me in intensive psycho therapy. It's a lot of crap, if you ask me, but then I was dealing with a whole new way of living. I was bitter and angry and insolent. I still have rough days, days when I question getting out of bed in the morning. You'll know, when I'm having one of those days. I either won't show up at all, or I'll bite you head off for looking at me. Despite your best training and instinct, the best thing you can do, is leave me alone when I get that way. Long as you do that, we won't have a problem."
Re: School Counselor
She listened to his explanation of his medical condition with a frown, then nodded judiciously. "I'm sorry to hear that therapy wasn't helpful to you under your changed circumstances. It can assist others in learning to cope, but I've never been a supporter of automatic treatment when the patient is resistant. It's much better to wait, in my experience, and see what strategies they develop on their own, if they reject the initial recommendation. Otherwise you're fighting the patient and their prognosis, usually to the detriment of both."
She bit her lip. "And if you don't mind me throwing an aspirin bottle at you when you snap at me, I think we'll rub along tolerably well."
